Absolutely unacceptable experience — avoid at all costs. We arrived to find the property freezing cold (around 12°C inside) while it was 5 degrees outside. After a long and exhausting trip with a newborn, we were forced to wait in our car for over an hour hoping the place would warm up — it never did. The heating situation is completely inadequate. There is only one 12,000 BTU air conditioning unit in the living room and allegedly another in the kitchen, which does nothing for the rest of the property. Critically, the bathroom is a separate room with absolutely no heating whatsoever — meaning you are expected to use a freezing bathroom in winter conditions. When we asked about proper heating, we were told the owners had instructed that it should not be used. On top of that, the property was unacceptably humid and had a strong smell of fireplace fumes, which is in itself a serious health concern — not only unpleasant, but particularly hazardous for a newborn. After raising the issue, we waited nearly 2 hours before being contacted by someone claiming to be the manager, who refused to provide his full name, was rude, aggressive, and dismissive. He even contradicted the listing by stating the property is around 30 sq.m., not 50 as advertised. To make a point, I even offered to pay 3x the price if he could warm up the property within the timeframe he claimed — he couldn’t. Instead of fixing the issue, we were told to go find firewood ourselves from a nearby location and use the fireplace — while having a newborn with us. This is beyond unacceptable. The property is also dangerous: two blind staircases (up and down), completely unsecured and unmarked, posing a serious hazard for children. We eventually had no choice but to leave in frustration with a crying baby and find alternative accommodation at our own expense. What makes this even worse is that the Athens-based management company, despite all of the above, refused to issue a refund not having used any of the facilities other than turning on the aircon and waiting in the car. Before they respond with the usual excuses: No, this is not a misunderstanding. No, the heating is not sufficient. No, the property is not as described. And no, asking guests to source firewood themselves is not acceptable. This is a clear case of misrepresentation, unsafe conditions, and completely unprofessional behavior. Avoid at all costs.
